Koonchi Gujarati Font Family was designed by Parth Shah and published by Indian Type Foundry. Koonchi Gujarati contains 2 styles and family package options. Koonchi Gujarati is a high-contrast script typeface. The lively design features unconnected letterforms that all slant to the right. This kind of informal script is used all the time in packaging design and Corporate Design solutions in many commercial sectors. The typeface is versatile enough to be used both for headlines and other large-sized settings and for short passages of running text. The reason for that versatility is Koochi Gujarati’s optical sizes. Users can interface with the typeface in two different ways. Either install a single Variable Font or two static OpenType files. Each of those static files is optimized for either text or display use. The “Regular” font is for small sizes, and the “Display” is for large sizes. Koonchi Gujarati’s Variable Font contains an optical-size axis running from 8 to 72. Those numbers refer to pixel sizes for onscreen typography and point sizes for print design. However, Variable Font users have more than 64 optical size variants because CSS and layout applications also allow decimal numbers to be selected. When we look at the “8” optical size – which corresponds to the Regular static font – we see a high degree of contrast between the letterforms’ thick and thin strokes. That contrast is ramped up in the “72” optical size and the static Display font. It has an even higher degree of stroke contrast, and the thin strokes in letterforms become so light that they are only hairlines. Parth Shah designed Koonchi Gujarati for ITF.
