Brahmos Arabics most striking feature is the appearance of its characters, which seem written by a pen held at an angle untypical for the Latin script, but typical for others. Interestingly, Broad-nib calligraphy underpins many of the worlds writing systems. If you look at the history of Devanagari or the Arabic script and Roman inscriptional lettering, youll notice that they each often employ broad-edge-written forms. Yet, broad nibs arent the only explanation for Brahmos Arabics appearance. The typeface mixes that with a modular method of letter construction. Brahmos Arabics letterforms are simplified where possible. Curves were eschewed in favor of straight lines and (usually) right angles, but diagonals are still present. Brahmos Arabic ships in two different formats. Depending on your preference, you can install it as a single Variable Font or use the familys five static OpenType font files. Those weights range from Light to Bold. While the static-format fonts offer a good intermediary-step selection, users who install the Variable Font have vastly greater control over their texts stroke width.
