A Grotesk Font Family was designed by Rostislav Vaněk, Roman Cernohous and published by Roman Cernohous Typotime. A Grotesk contains 7 styles and family package options. Inspired by Akzidenz Grotesk A!Grotesk brings calm shapes without loss of dynamics in seven styles. Carefully supervised by graphic and type designer Rostislav Vaněk.The updates to Akzidenz Grotesk with large world-class foundries have generally focused only on a selected group of weights, which has resulted in the persistence of a structural inconsistency from the time when individual weights were developed more or less as independent projects. For compact typesetting, A!Grotesk features an increased x-height to its maximum level, and all characters are expanded. Some characters needed to be significantly widened compared to the original, particularly the lowercase „b“, „d“, „p“, and „q“, to ensure proportional consistency with the letters „o“, „c“, and „e“. In the uppercase, the most noticeable change in proportions is with the letter M. It is no longer compressed into a narrow space but is given the room it requires in relation to the other characters.The accents in A!Grotesk are sensitively designed with consideration for the linguistic conventions of the respective regions, and their shapes correspond to the letterform style of the alphabet. To maintain as compact a typesetting as possible, the lowercase and uppercase accents are aligned with both the upper and lower stems. The A!Grotesk font family has a rich set of characters, including, among others, small capitals, uppercase, lowercase and small cap. numerals and an extensive set of symbols in seven weights.
