It began a start from medieval Poland. The Brest printing house was organized on the initiative and at the expense of the famous figure of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Prince Nikolai Radziwill. In 1566 the Protestant theologian Tomas Falconius published a book of commentaries on the New Testament “Sprawy y słowa Jezusa Krystusa Syna Bożego” it means “The Matters and Words of Jesus Christ, the Son of God”. This book used Schwabacher as a main font. Schwabacher is a specific style of blackletter typefaces which evolved from Gothic Textura under the influence of Humanist type design in Italy during the 15th century.
