Switzer Devanagari Variable Font Family was designed by Gunjan Panchal and published by Indian Type Foundry. Switzer Devanagari Variable contains 1 styles and family package options. Switzer Devanagari is a neo-grotesk typeface developed for the Devanagari and the Latin scripts. It is a clean and clear-cut design intended for a wide variety of applications. Indeed, this is a perfect ‘generic usage’ selection for contemporary designs requiring a language written with the Devanagari script to be composed in a mid-century typographic aesthetic. Switzer Devnagari is available in two different formats. Users can install it either as a single Variable Font or as five static OpenType font files. Those static files range in weight from Light through Bold. While the static-format fonts offer a good number of intermediary steps, users who install the Variable Font instead will have vastly greater control over their text’s stroke width. That format allows for almost 1,000 subtly differentiated font-weight possibilities, enabling you to fine-tune the appearance your text will have on-screen or in print. Switzer Devangari’s design is classic and timeless. The fonts were made in-house at ITF by Gunjan Panchal. We named the typeface after the Switzer Trading Company, the first multi-national enterprise with Indian and Swiss operations. Its Bombay office opened in 1851, and the firm played an important role in fostering early ties between the two countries. While the neo-grotesk style didn’t originate in Switzerland per se, some of the most-famous neo-grotesks did come from Swiss designers.
