La Fabrique Variable Font Family was designed by Colophon Foundry and published by Colophon Foundry. La Fabrique Variable contains 2 styles and family package options. Alongside leading the type workshop and a lecture, Colophon Foundry were commissioned by the 23rd International Festival of Graphic Design in Chaumont, to be part of La Fabrique.The heavy sans-serif typeface ‘La Fabrique’ was created to coincide with this commission. The process of production for the typeface was separated in four distinct stages and documented via two mediums: a set of four A0 serigraph posters and a small 12-page specimen, used to visually document a normally ephemeral and invisible process. The result was shown at La Fabrique, Chaumont, France in 2012.The single-weight of La Fabrique was revisited in 2017 and extended into a family of five weights with corresponding Italics. It now also contains further language support for Extended Latin, Greek and Cyrillic, alongside further OpenType features and discretionary ligatures.
